Taking the train
The trip from London Euston (EUS) to Liverpool Lime Street (LIV) is roughly 2.5 hours. Intercity services run from major towns and cities into Liverpool Lime Street Station. After taking the train to Liverpool, your first destination of interest will likely be St Georges Hall as it’s the first building you’ll see. It’s widely regarded as the finest neo -classical building in Europe, where Charles Dickens was a regular visitor, and represents the prosperity in Liverpool in the 19th century.

Travelling with children
It’s no secret that kids love trains; choo choo trains that is! Travelling by train as a family is a great way to go. It promotes quality family time, is rather hassle free and the scenery is spectacular. For a family of three or four, getting a table and seats facing each other is perfect for eating, games, stories and extra legroom, of course.
Taking the train is made affordable with the BritRail Family Discount. Purchase any select adult or senior BritRail Pass and one accompanying child from the age of 5 to 15 receives a Pass of the same type and duration for free. For additional children, the price is 50% off the adult fare. Children under 5 travel free and do not need a ticket. The BritRail Family Discount is available in both 1st and Standard Class.
To complete the ultimate family train trip, set out with your favorite children’s book about trains such as Thomas the Tank Engine, The Little Engine That Could, the Hogwart Express from Harry Potter, or the Polar Express for a little on board entertainment! Select trains may also have family cars, children’s menus and activity books.
