Airport Express
Published on July 7th, 2009.
Convenience is key from London’s airports to Central London.
Airport express trains are frequent and reliable and cost less than a cab ride through London traffic. Select BritRail passes are valid on the Airport Express trains as these trains are apart of the National Rail Network; these include the BritRail FlexiPass, BritRail Consecutive Pass, BritRail England FlexiPass, BritRail England Consecutive Pass and the BritRail + Ireland Pass. In addition, the BritRail London Plus Pass includes 2 vouchers to have access to your choice of Airport Express.
Heathrow Express
Travel non-stop between Heathrow Airport and London Paddington station in 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express. With trains departing every 15 minutes, the Heathrow Express is by far the easiest way to get to Central London!
Gatwick Express
Gatwick Express is the fastest way to travel from Gatwick Airport to Central London – the 27 miles are covered in just 30 minutes. Trains leave every 15 minutes, and travel from London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.
Stansted Express
The Stansted Express is the fastest way to and from Stansted Airport. With trains departing every 15 – 30 minutes, this amazing service takes you directly from the airport to London Liverpool Street Station in only 42 minutes!
A supplementary ticket for this service can be purchased separately for a single use by visiting

Hi Erika,
The BritRail pass does not include service on the London Public Transportation system (tube and buses). We regret any inconvenience.

If I am a Britrail Flexipass Holder, will my Heathrow Express trip into London count as a day of travel?

Hi Eliza,
Yes, boarding the Heathrow Express will count as a day of travel. With a BritRail FlexiPass you have access to the national rail network of Britain which includes the Airport Express trains.

Does this also go for the Gatwick Express? ie: boarding this train counts as a day of travel?
thanks!

Hi Clare,
Yes, boarding the Gatwick Express would count as a travel day on your BritRail Pass.

I wish to start my Britrail flexi pass using the Heathrow express form Heathrow to London then travel to Newcastle on the same day , does this constitute 1 days travel or 2 .The comments posted indicate the Heathrow Express as using 1 days travel but does not explain further travel on the same day .

Hello,
Using a BritRail Pass you can hop on and off the train as you like during your travel day, so going from Heathrow to London and then to Newcastle on the same day constitutes 1 travel day.

Hello! I will be landing at Heathrow and staying in the Redhill, Surrey, area which I understand is close to Gatwick Airport. Would it be possible to take the Heathrow Express to London, then take the Gatwick Express to Gatwick? Are there stops before getting to Gatwick that would get me closer to Redhill? Is this the best plan, and if so is this considered one travel day or two, if done same day? I will also be getting an Oyster for London travel; will be there a few days and expect to use it in case that matters. Thanks in advance, best wishes.

Hi Terri,
There should be no problem to take the Heathrow Express (Heathrow to London Paddington) then make your way to London Victoria station where you can take the Gatwick Express to Gatwick.
Your option would be to take a train directly from London Victoria to Redhill – departures every 20 minutes with travel time of about 30 minutes.
If your travel is in one day, you would be using only one day from your Britrail pass.
Your Britrail pass is not valid for the public transportation in London (Paddington to Victoria station) and you would use your Oyster card for that segment.

Hello, I purchased a Britrail Euro England Flexi Pass. On the most british railway staions I know you have to stick your ticket into a machine before boarding to get access to the platform. What should I do with the paper pass? Should I buy a tickrt before showing the pass to th ticket office?

Thank you for the info and quick response! Will save your recommendations in an email for my trip!
There is definitely something amiss with the website using Firefox from the US through Uverse last night, I could not book my own ticket for this April.
However, I did call the Britrail customer service number and ordered my Flexi Pass and Oyster card with Security coverage (thus no shipping or handling fee) which cost the same as booking online, with the reassurance of making sure I was getting the right products for my specific trip (have never been to UK before). I spoke with a very kind and helpful representative who had further suggestions… y’all are just lovely!
Thanks again!

Hi Roland,
Please note you have to show your pass to an attendant to gain entry to the platform.
You do not need to buy a separate ticket as your pass is what you are using for rail travel.

Good morning
We have bought three BritRail Euro Flexipasses, valid 2 days. On our way back to London from Edinburgh we will arrive at Charing Cross and intend to continue to Heathrow Airport for the flight back. Am I right presuming that we have to buy an underground ticket from Charing Cross to Paddington Station where the BritrailEuroFlexipass will authorise us to take the Heathrow Express?
Thank you for your answer.
Best wishes,
Erika Amsler
P.S. Your “Terms and Condition” sure are hard to be read, the letters are so small…
