Dear Sirs,

I am a ‘PR’ Professional and I am planning a nice trip for me and my wife during our vacation next May. I would like to know if the pass ‘Britrail Central Scotland’ will allow me to go from Ebinburgh to Glasgow and vice-versa. And also, what is the best option to get started with this pass, Glasgow or Edinburgh. I plan to visit London before going to Scotland. Is it possible to include the trip from London to Scotland in the pass? I will spend three or four days in Scotland, from where my great grandfather migrate to Brazil in the ‘lates 1890′, only about two centuries ago. Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Ricardo R. Almeida

Hi Ricardo,

Sounds like you are planning a great trip!

Yes, the BritRail Central Scotland Pass allows you to go from Edinburgh to Glasgow and vice-versa. You can start in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, although coming directly from London you would probably go to Edinburgh first. The trip between Edinburgh and Glasgow is approximately 50 minutes, with frequent departures.

The trip from London to Scotland would not be covered with BritRail’s Central Scotland Pass. However, the BritRail Flexi or Consecutive Pass would cover travel throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

Check out the trip planner http://www.britrail.com/plan-a-trip, by entering the cities you want to visit it will suggest the corresponding pass.

Hi, we booked an 8 day flexipass on 21/03/2010.. are we eligible for the extra free day travel? Also will we receive our tkts in time as we are in Australia and when I booked I stated a different date than the one we are leaving as we leave for the UK April 8th. I gave the date as the date we expected to start using the pass!?

angela  on March 26th, 2010

Hi Nola,

You certainly will get the extra day with your pass! We actually have a distribution center in Australia so I have inquired on your order status. I have your order information so as soon as I hear back I will email you directly.

I’ll be in touch shortly.

Hi,

Is there an extra day added if you buy a London Plus flexible pass?

What is the deadline for buying a Brit rail pass to be eligible for the extra day on an England only flexi pass

David  on March 27th, 2010

We are planning 1st trip to UK in May and plan using Britflexi 4 day pass. I see another provider of passes indicates the use of pass on Eurostar. we are going one way to paris after UK stay. Is it correct that Britflexi pass can be used on Eurostar leg. Thanks David

angela  on March 29th, 2010

Hi Dorothy,

The extra day is not included in the London Plus Pass. The extra day is included with a BritRail Flexi or Consecutive Pass and a BritRail England Flexi or Consecutive Pass.

The promotion ends April 30th, 2010.

angela  on March 29th, 2010

Hi David,

Please note that a BritRail Pass is not valid on Eurostar (between London and Paris). You will need to purchase this separately.

angela  on March 29th, 2010

Hi Meher,

Advance reservations are not usually necessary however seating would then be subject to availability.

You can make advance reservations (within 60 days of your travel date) at the same time as you purchase your pass (to save on multiple shipping charges).

You can upgrade to 1st class with a standard class pass by paying the difference between the standard class and 1st class point to point ticket. This upgrade can only be done in Britain and is subject to seat availability.

hi, We are a family of 5 people and we are going to book a flexi pass. Is the free extra day for all five of us or for just one person?
thanks

angela  on April 6th, 2010

Hi Rosaria,

A free extra day applies to each BritRail FlexiPass.

Dear Sirs,

I am planning a trip through GB with my family in july. How can I buy the Britrail Pass? Does the shopping cart work with Credit Card number?

Thank you very much!!!

angela  on April 7th, 2010

First click “Get Your Pass”, then follow the steps until you reach checkout. Certainly you can pay with a credit card.

María José  on April 9th, 2010

Thanks, Angela!

DocRock  on April 13th, 2010

Hi everybody,

I’m planning a trip to Cornwall with my girlfriend in the end of may and the beginning of june.
What exactly does “valid 2 days within a month” mean. Is it like two days within 30 days (so we just had to buy one ticket each) or within one actual month (so we needed 2 tickets each – one for may and one for june).

I hope someone can help me :) .

Thanks a lot and best wishes,
DocRock

angela  on April 13th, 2010

Hi

A validity 2 days in 1 month means you can travel any 2 days within a 30 day period, so you each only need one BritRail Pass.

DocRock  on April 13th, 2010

@ Angela: Thanks a lot for your fast and ‘welcomed’ answer ;)

Pat  on April 16th, 2010

I went through the steps to buy an 8-day consecutive BritRail pass for my group of 4 people, (except for clicking the last button which actually charges my credit card), but I didn’t see anywhere where it said for sure that we would be receiving 9 days of travel instead of 8. I need to be sure that we will have 9 days, or we will end up having to pay additionally for our day trip out of London.

angela  on April 16th, 2010

Hi Pat,

When you are on the shopping tab and you select the 8-day Consecutive BritRail Pass and click ‘add to cart’ you can see in your cart on the right hand of the screen the pass and it also says ‘BRITRAIL FREE DAY PROMO’.

Pat  on April 17th, 2010

Thank you so much for your reply.

jkgalbraith  on April 17th, 2010

I know that a London Travel card allows use of the Tramlink around the Croydon area. If I just get a rail pass only does it allow me to use the Croydon Tram link?

Iris  on April 17th, 2010

I use a small travel scooter 19″ wide x 32″ long
My granddaughter and I can lift it when necessary, I just don’t walk well for long distance. Will it be a problem on the trains? It comes apart easily if necessary to save space. We will be in the UK for 18 days and thing the 15 days out of 2 months flexi pass makes the most sense for us. We will be including a trip to Edinburgh and one to York, but mostly in and around London. Thanks for your reply…

Cleber  on April 18th, 2010

Hi Angela,

Am I elegible to any discount when buying an Eurostar ticket having a Britrail Pass?

angela  on April 19th, 2010

Please note that trams and other London city transport (bus and tube) is not included with a BritRail Pass, as they are not associated with the National Rail Network.

LesleyT  on April 20th, 2010

We are 1 adult and 1 senior (60) planning the following trip: June 23 Edinburgh to Glasgow; June 27 Glasgow to Oban; July 2 Oban to Penrith; July 9 Penrith to Cleethorpes; July 12 Cleethorpes to London; July 19 London to Heathrow Airport. Can you pls advise what is the best pass and how much it would be? Also, once we have a pass is there then a fee to reserve a seat and is a seat reservation necessary? Thanks for your help.

rajesh  on April 20th, 2010

We are a group of 8 travelling together in May 2010. Want to travel all over UK ( Wales and Scotland included ). Our ages are 41, 40, 38, 38, 17, 14, 14, 10. I would like to know which is the most economic pass for us as well as the deal involving one extra day if one books before 30th April
Regards
Rajesh

Alison Cummins  on April 21st, 2010

You advertize a free day to the pass and yet when I go on line to book the additional day is not highlighted. Does one have to travel before the end of April to recieve the bonus or just purchase the pass by the end of April. I want to book now for my arrival in June.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Alison Cummins

angela  on April 22nd, 2010

Hi Alison,

You don’t have to travel by the end of April, you just need to purchase before the end of April to get the free day.

This extra day promotion is applicable on select BritRail Passes, so first please check if you are booking a pass that qualifies including a: BritRail FlexiPass, BritRail Consecutive Pass, BritRail England FlexiPass, BritRail England Consecutive Pass.

When you are on the shopping tab and you select the BritRail Pass and click ‘add to cart’ you can see in your cart on the right hand of the screen the pass and it also says ‘BRITRAIL FREE DAY PROMO’.

Sonnie  on April 24th, 2010

Hi,

we are a group of 5 people (20 and 21 years old) and we want to travel to England. We want a ticket for 8 days which are not together (one day traveling, one day not..) Which ticket would you recomend us?

If we buy the party ticket, would the one day free be valid for all of us or just for one person? And there is also written that the whole party must travel together – does it means for exmaple that if one of us is ill and don´t want to travel, the rest of us can not also? Or just that one can not travel somawhere when the rest is traveling elsewhere?

Thank you very much for your respond!
Have a nice day.
Sonnie

Holly  on April 25th, 2010

Hi there! I’m looking at the BritRail England Guest Pass for myself and my sister who lives in the UK (I live in USA) for around May 26-28. I realize that with this ticket my sister cannot travel without me. But my question is – with this ticket may I travel without her? The situation is a three consecutive days pass but my sister would want to travel on only two days but I want to travel on all three. If there is an answer to this question on your webpages please could you point me to it. Thanks, Holly

patricia  on April 25th, 2010

I wish to purchase a BritRail Flexi Pass, and on line, one has to answer what date the Pass will begin. As I will be in the U.K. for three months, I as yet have no idea what date I will start and thought I would validate it at the station when I decide. Can I by-pass this request?
Thank you.

Stansill  on April 26th, 2010

My exact travel dates in September are not known at this time. Can I purchase the pass now without specifying a start date?
Thank you.

angela  on April 26th, 2010

Hi Patricia and Stansill,

A BritRail Pass can be validated within 6 months from the first date of travel you indicate. So the start date you indicate is not fixed as the pass still needs to be validated, at which time the true first date of travel is stamped on your pass. Therefore please select an estimated travel date when booking.

angela  on April 26th, 2010

Hi Sonnie,

We would recommend the BritRail England Party FlexiPass.

With the party pass you receive 1 pass to cover your 5 passengers and the extra day is included in this 1 pass, so everyone benefits from the extra day.

It is stated that the party must travel together because you will only have 1 physical pass so the group cannot split up and travel. But some can still travel together, while others don’t.

angela  on April 26th, 2010

Hi Holly,

Yes, as the pass-holder you may travel without the UK guest.

Does the Britrail pass include the ferry to the Isle of Man?

rajesh  on April 27th, 2010

I will be travelling UK on Britrail Consecutive Pass and on the last day of the validity of this pass, I will be travelling to Harwich Port port to board a ship to cross over to Holland. I want to know whether the Britrail Pass can be used for free travel to Harwich so that I pay only for the ship journey or the entire ticket ( Train to harwich + Ferry + Train in Holland ) has to be bought separately as a package. The cost for the train + ferry package has been shown separately as London Liverpool to Harwich and Stenaline from Harwich to Hook Van Holland. Depending on your advise I will book my Britrail Pass and London – Holland ticket

angela  on April 27th, 2010

Unfortunately the BritRail pass does not include the ferry to the Isle of Man. The ticket can be purchased locally in Liverpool or Heysham Port.

angela  on April 27th, 2010

Hi Rajesh,

The BritRail pass will include your rail travel to Harwich but not the ferry nor the train in Holland.
