Please clarify “hop-on, hop-off”. If, for example,I want to travel from London to Edinburgh on one day with a 2-3 hour stop in York, what happens with our luggage? We wouldn’t want to drag it all around York. Thanks

  • Fred

    Hi Marilyn,
By hop on, hop off we are referring to the fact that with a BritRail Pass you can take multiple train trips on each travel day.
In regards to your luggage, please note you must always take your luggage with you. There is usually a Left Luggage facility at the larger Rail Stations (ie York) where you can check your luggage for a few hours.

I would like to purchase a 3 day BritRail FlexiPass, but how do I know that I get an extra day? When I go through the checkout process I want to be certain that I’m getting 4 days for the price of 3.

  • Shallard

I’m about to buy a BritRail Consecutive Party Pass for my wife, child, and myself. We will travel together during those 15 consecutive days, but it’s possible one of us might want to take an occasional side trip alone. Can we use the party pass for that solo trip, too?

  • Fred

    Hi Rachel,

After you add a BritRail FlexiPass to your cart, you will be able to see “Items in Your Cart”. It will be listed BritRail FlexiPass, BritRail Free Day Promo.

  • Anne

I’m with Rachel — not *with* her but… :) — So if I want to travel out on 12/4 and return on 15/4 the I should purchase the 3 day and use my free day to get back..my free day is 12/4 and my 3 day starts on 13/4?
    Sorry to be dense!!

  • Fred

    Hi Anne,

If you purchase a 3 day consecutive pass and have a voucher for an extra day, that would entitle you to 4 consecutive days of travel (12/4, 13/4, 14/4, and 15/4 works).
The free day should be used during the validity period of your pass so it would be used on the last day (you cannot use the free day if you haven’t validated your pass).

We are in the process of deciding upon the benefits of either the Flexi or Party Pass but need clarifification a couple of issues first.
Does either Pass cover a trip from London Euston to Carlisle, Cumbria.
It has been mentioned that these passes only cover the High Speed Trains but I have no idea if this leg of a journey is covered.
Also,if one buys the Party Pass and we have a party of eight, in whose name is it registered?

  • Fred

    Hi John,

The Britrail pass is valid on all trains throughout Great Britain’s National Rail network (both regional and high speed), including London to Carlisle.

When purchasing the Party pass, all the passenger names would be included on the pass. You would need to travel together with this option.

  • Fiona

Can I use the BritiRail FlexiPass to cover an overnight trip from London Euston to Edinburgh or vice-versa?

  • Fred

    Hi Fiona,

The BritRail pass is valid for the sleeper train London to Edinburgh. There is an additional US$90 (about GBP 45) per person sleeper supplement (for BritRail pass holders) to reserve a bed in standard class. The sleeper train would use one day from your pass (the arrival date). You can book the reservation on our website or call us toll free for Canada and USA: 1-866-938-7245.
