Broughton Castle

Nestled in the beautiful north Oxfordshire countryside lies a fortified and moated medieval manor house, home of the Fiennes family for over six centuries. Enter via the 15th century gatehouse and enjoy 700 years of history, from the groined passageway with its corbel heads, to the King’s Chamber’s spectacular mantelpiece and nineteenth century hand-painted wallpaper. One visitor recently remarked; “a historical gem; not a showy castle but something far more special”.

To the south, the ruined walls of the medieval kitchens provide shelter for the beautiful Ladies Garden, set out with fleur-de-lys box hedges and beautiful flowers (roses, climbers and summer perennials).
