Newcastle

Beautiful bridges, friendly folk and plenty of history in this major North Eastern City.

Nightlife
The people here are affectionately known as “Geordies” and the nightlife in this town is good.
Join the locals for an enjoyable drink at one of the many bars and pubs in town, all closely situated together, why not even try a glass of the local Newcastle Brown ale.

History
The history here runs deep, quite literally if you are visiting the Victoria tunnel, a former underground wagonway for coal that ran under the city to the river. Guided tours can let you experience the tunnel first hand.

Architecture
Architecture is a prevalent feature of Newcastle’s streets, perhaps best displayed in Grey Street where not only viewing of the street can be done but shopping too.

Retail Therapy
If you are after some retail therapy, Eldon Square Shopping Centre is in the centre of town and the Metrocentre, situated in Gateshead, is the UK’s 2nd largest shopping centre.

Quayside
If this sounds all too much, then take a stroll away from the busy city along the quiet quayside. Pass by the seven bridges and visit the BALTIC contemporary art centre for a relaxing alternative.
